California Stage is celebrating 20 years with Ovation Award Winner "THE IDEA MAN' as it nails the greedy acts of large corporations to their front doors.
Kevin King’s “The Idea Man,” received its world premiere with the Elephant Theatre Company in Hollywood immediately winning the best playwriting award at the Los Angeles Ovation Awards. Following California Stage’s production, “ The Idea Man”will open in New York in March of this year.
Al Carson is a skilled toolmaker, but is a guy with self-described “anger issues.” He is also an irrepressible skirt-chasing, beer-drinking, smart-mouthed know-it-all, father of six kids by two wives and an interim girlfriend. Al has a talent. He is a mechanical savant with a head full of ideas, one gem of which, he drops in the factory suggestion box. The corporate execs see millions and give Al a small plaque and $100. Then the fun begins.
“The Idea Man” stars veteran professional actor, Loren Taylor and Elly award winning actors Eric Baldwin, Michele Kohler, Charlie Holliday, Christina Clem, Michele Koehler, Jawara Duncan, Nicholas Koehler and West Ramsey. The play will be directed by Penny Meagher, produced by Ray Tatar with set designs by Gary Nyland and costumes by Julie Dahl.
