(Sacramento, CA) Instituto Mazatlán Bellas Artes (IMBA), the highly-lauded Sacramento-based ballet folklorico school, has announced their winter “Carnitas Fundraiser” to be held at their new “Studio 4300” on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012. The address is 4300 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95820.

The event will run from noon-5 pm, with homemade carnitas supplied by area restaurateur and IMBA school founder, Yolanda Colosio. Colosio owns La Terraza Mexican Restaurant, the second story, balconied restaurant at 1027 2nd St. in Old Sacramento.

Tickets are only $6 and are on sale now at the studio. Raffle prizes will include gift certificates from Zócalo and La Terraza restaurants, wine baskets, and additional gift packages.

The new center, designed by Colosio and family, boasts two full studios: a large 1600 square foot studio with three entry ways, ballet bars, state of the art sound system, hardwood floors with large windows that allow natural sunlight to radiate the new space, plus a smaller 750 square foot studio with commensurate amenities. The lobby and waiting areas include a meeting/ homework room with computer and Internet wireless for students.

The School of Dance educates students interested in Mexican folklore, teaches the fundamentals of dance, and trains students to become performing artists, offerings classes for all ages and levels from all different backgrounds. IMBA’s attention to developing social responsibility within the community is visible in its ongoing scholarship program.

In addition to the school, the Compañía Mazatlán Bellas Artes (CMBA), its professional performance group led by Artistic Director Steven Valencia, is based there.
