TV and radio production is always a cooperative "team" effort. Often the difference between your wonderful, well-planned concept and a final program is other certified users you haven't met yet. Their cooperation and assistance is critically important.
To help you find this assistance and meet other certified users, Access Sacramento has set up various "networking" procedures. Before you begin your networking efforts, ask yourself these pre-production questions: Am I as organized as I can be? Do I have a written plan, outline, or script? Should I take the Producing Your Cable TV Program class to help me organize my program better? Do I know what kind of equipment will be necessary for my program? Do I need to take the camera outside the studio? Do I require videotape editing help to put the final program together? Do I have the people to put together a studio or truck crew?
Organizing your thoughts is essential to a successful program and mandatory if you are going to ask other people for help. Would you volunteer to help on a project that seemed vague and disorganized? "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The training class designed to help you get started is Producing Your Cable TV Program. (See Chapter 2 for more details.)
One final thought - the greater detail and more "interesting" your proposed program sounds, the better your chances are of finding others to help. If you are enthusiastic and your subject is presented well, you have helped yourself tremendously. If you are uninspired or confused about why your program is valuable, why should anyone else care enough to help out?
