A Place Called Sacramento is our Year-round Short Film Incubator Program.

This Non-Profit (501c3) program, takes any person from script-to-screen with a methodical, phased, system geared for success.  Extraordinarily this year we celebrate our 26th year of this successful media arts education program. We are ready to celebrate!

The next step is to read the scripwriting competition rules and submit a script if you are feeling brave!
Whether you win or not, join us to volunteer as a cast or crew member to help the winners make their films this summer. The Volunteer Cast & Crew Call is Wednesday, May 6th, 6 to 8 pm at the Coloma Community Center, 4623 T Street, Sacramento, CA 95819.

Script Competition Winners go on to the next steps:

  1. Read the competition rules. Very important because you need to be prepared to make your film and spend money doing it.
  2. Enter your film into the competition.
  3. Take our Short Film Production classes if you want to review filmmaking steps and forms.
  4. Participate at the Volunteer Cast & Crew Call is Wednesday, May 6th, 6 to 8 pm at the Coloma Community Center, 4623 T Street, Sacramento, CA 95819.
  5. If you are a competition winner shoot and edit your film over the summer with volunteer cast and crews’ help.
  6. Enjoy the world premiere of ten new local indie films at the historic Crest Theater with red carpet fanfare, Friday, October 16th at 7 pm.
  7. Use awards won through this process and at the World Premiere to springboard your career.
